Celebrating the Contribution of Two Dedicated Trustees

The Carnegie Dunfermline Trust is marking an important moment of transition, as we say thank you to two long‑serving colleagues.

Carnegie Dunfermline Trust is bidding a fond farewell to two highly valued Trustees, Janet McCauslin MBE and Rev Dr MaryAnn Rennie, whose dedication, leadership and commitment have made a lasting impact on the Trust and the communities we serve.

Thank You, Janet McCauslin MBE

After 19 years of outstanding service, Janet McCauslin MBE is retiring from the Board of Carnegie Dunfermline Trust.

Since joining the Trust in 2008, Janet has played an active role in every aspect of the organisation. Her extensive experience in education, community development and partnership working has been invaluable, helping to guide the Trust through periods of growth and change.

A former Assistant Principal at Dunfermline's Carnegie College, Janet has always been passionate about creating opportunities for local people to thrive and succeed. Her energy, commitment and determination have remained constant throughout nearly two decades of service.

Janet served as Chair of the Trust from 2024 to 2026, leading the development of the Trust's strategic priorities for 2024-2028 and helping shape the organisation's future direction. During her time as Chair, she also played a key role in hosting the prestigious Carnegie Medals of Philanthropy in Scotland in 2025 and represented the Trust at three Carnegie Hero Fund presentations across the UK.

Janet's commitment to the wider Carnegie family extended beyond Dunfermline, with many years of service on the Board of Carnegie UK.

While Janet is stepping down from the Board, we are delighted that she will continue to play a role in the Trust's future as the independent chair of the Pittencrieff Park Ambition Group, helping drive forward this important strategic project.

Wishing Rev Dr MaryAnn Rennie Every Success

The Trust is also saying farewell to Rev Dr MaryAnn Rennie, who is stepping down as a Trustee following her appointment to a new ministry role with Newington Trinity Church in Edinburgh.

MaryAnn was inducted as Minister of Dunfermline Abbey Church in 2012 and joined the Trust in 2017. Since then, she has made a significant contribution across a range of committees and initiatives. She latterly served as Convener of the Hero Fund Committee and the Community and Creative Arts Grants Team.

Throughout her time as a Trustee, MaryAnn has been respected for her thoughtful approach, strong listening skills and genuine empathy. Her pastoral work with young people and families, alongside her role as chaplain in local schools, brought valuable insight into the experiences and aspirations of people across Dunfermline.

MaryAnn also strengthened the Trust's historic links with Pittsburgh through her successful completion of a Doctor of Ministry degree at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. She was instrumental in advancing plans to locate the Carnegie Tiffany stained-glass window within Dunfermline Abbey, helping to realise a long-held vision connected to Andrew Carnegie's legacy.

As MaryAnn prepares for her move to Edinburgh, the Trust extends its sincere thanks and best wishes for the future.

Chair of the Board, Mike Reid, paid tribute to both Trustees:

"On behalf of the Board, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Janet and MaryAnn for their exceptional service and dedication to Carnegie Dunfermline Trust.

Janet's contribution over the past 19 years has been truly remarkable. Her leadership, particularly during her time as Chair, has helped shape the Trust's strategic direction and strengthen our impact across the community. Her enthusiasm, commitment and deep understanding of Dunfermline have been an inspiration to Trustees and staff alike.

MaryAnn has brought wisdom, compassion and thoughtful leadership to the Board throughout her tenure. Her insight into the lives of local people, combined with her commitment to supporting communities, has been invaluable to our work.

While we will miss both Janet and MaryAnn around the Board table, we are incredibly grateful for everything they have contributed and wish them every success in the future. We are especially pleased that Janet will continue to be involved with the Trust through the Pittencrieff Park Ambition Group, and we look forward to working with her in that role."
