The Trust is an endowment trust which was established by the international philanthropist Andrew Carnegie in 1903 to add value to the lives and environment of the community of Dunfermline, Fife, where he was born and passed his childhood.

The Trust is one of over 20 Carnegie foundations worldwide and is governed by Royal Charter with a Board of twenty Trustees.

Gillian Taylor - Chief Executive

I’m Gillian Taylor and I’m the CEO of the Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trust. I have worked for the Trust since June 2020. I am passionate about carrying on Andrew Carnegie’s legacy to bring ‘sweetness and light’ to his hometown of Dunfermline.

In my spare time, I enjoy getting back to nature on our family farm just north of Dunfermline.

I’m Elaine Stewart and I’m the Trust’s Grant Officer. I started working for the Trust in 2009 and since that time have helped lots of different groups secure grant funding.

If you are looking for a grant for your organisation, I’m the person you need to contact first. I can let you know whether your proposal is likely to fit with our grant criteria and guide you through the process of applying for a grant from the Trust.

When I’m not at work, you may see me at a local parkrun.
I’m one of the Run Directors at Dunfermline parkrun which takes place on Saturday mornings in Pittencrieff Park.

Liz Pullar - Finance Officer

I’m Liz Pullar and I am the Finance Officer for the Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trusts.

I have worked for the Trust since January 2007 and I am the longest-serving member of staff.

I live locally and in my spare time I enjoy horse riding, swimming and holidays in the sun.

Liane Horder - Hero Fund Manager

I’m Liane Horder and I am the Carnegie Hero Fund Manager. I started working for the Trust in 2018 and prior to that I worked for 19 years as Housing Advisor at a homeless charity.

I have been involved within the fundraising and organisation of various community events in Dunfermline over the years. I enjoy taking my 2 dogs for long walks and exploring the local countryside.

Sarah Huxtable - Administrator

I’m Sarah Huxtable and started working with Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trust as Administrator in December 2017. Originally from Lincolnshire, I moved to Dunfermline in 2005 to study at Queen Margaret University. 

I completed a BA (Hons) in Film and Media in 2009. Since then I’ve held a number of positions within third sector organisations. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, going to the cinema, travelling to the South of France with my husband and enjoying the local countryside in and around Fife.

I also work for the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland.

 

Our Young Ambassadors

Carnegie Dunfermline Trust Young Ambassador - Danielle

I’m Danielle McGuire and was selected to be a young ambassador for the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust in summer 2021.

I was born and raised in Rosyth and now live in Dunfermline. I work in a local school supporting children with disabilities. Fundraising and supporting my local community has always been important to me so I am delighted to be working with the trust.

Carnegie Dunfermline Trust - Young Ambassador - Jake

My name is Jake Graham and I am part of the Young Ambassador Team for the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust.

I am a postgraduate history student at Dundee University where I have been researching the life and philanthropic works of Andrew Carnegie and I hope I can continue to further his legacy and support the development of the Dunfermline Trust. 

In my spare time I enjoy travelling, walks with my dog and going to the movies.

Carnegie Dunfermline Trust - Young Ambassador - Chloe

I’m Chloe Dunbar and I am one of the new young ambassadors for the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust. I’m a Marketing Management student from Edinburgh Napier University.

In January 2021 the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust welcomed me to the team as a student work placement for 6 months, providing me with lots of opportunities to develop and grow my marketing skills.

I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to support the Trust in all of the ongoing projects I was able to be involved in during my placement.
