Leadership Updates at the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust
The Carnegie Dunfermline Trust is marking an important moment of transition, as we say thank you to long‑serving colleagues and welcome new leadership to guide the Trust forward.
Thanking Janet McCausland MBE for Her Leadership
After a period of dedicated service, Janet McCauslin MBE is stepping down from her role as Chair of the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust. Janet has provided steady leadership, thoughtful oversight, and a strong commitment to the Trust’s values and mission.
Janet joined the Carnegie Dunfermline and Hero Fund Trust in 2008 and has been a dedicated Trustee for the last 18 years. She has also served on the Board of the Carnegie UK Trust.
A former Assistant Principal at Dunfermline’s Carnegie College, Janet has a background in education and is committed to helping local people thrive and succeed. She also brings a wealth of experience in community development and partnership working.
Throughout her time as Chair, Janet has played a significant role in supporting the Trust’s work across the community, helping ensure that our funding and activities continue to make a meaningful difference in Dunfermline and the surrounding area. We are extremely grateful for her time, guidance, and the positive impact of her leadership.
Janet will continue on the board of Trustees until September 2026. We thank Janet sincerely for her service as Chair and wish her every success in the future.
We are pleased to announce Mike Reid as the thirty-fifth Chair of the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust. Mike brings valuable experience and insight, and we look forward to working closely with him as he leads the Trust into its next chapter.
At a time when strong, collaborative leadership is more important than ever, Mike’s appointment ensures continuity while also offering new perspectives to support the Trust’s ongoing development and ambitions.
Mike quotes “I am honoured to elected Chair of the Trust after many years serving as a Trustee. The work of the Trust in both recognising civilian heroes and elevating the experience of living in Dunfermline is very rewarding and I consider myself lucky to have the opportunity.”
Janet McCauslin MBE thanks Dr Colin Firth
Celebrating the Contribution of Dr Colin Firth
We also wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr Colin Firth, who is retiring from the Trust. Colin joined as a trustee in 2017 and has since given many years of dedicated service.
During his time with us, Colin has served as a trustee of both the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust and the Hero Trust Fund, offering wisdom, clarity, and a deep commitment to the communities we support. His thoughtful contributions and long‑standing involvement have been greatly valued by fellow trustees and staff alike.
Looking Ahead
As we acknowledge these changes, we do so with gratitude for the contributions of those who are stepping away and optimism for the future under new leadership. We offer our sincere thanks to Janet McCauslin and Dr Colin Firth for their service and commitment.
